During the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, all of us at Cascade Radio Group knew we had to make a difference. That’s why we quickly marshalled our community resources to put together the first ever April Foods Day. On April 24th, 2020, our network of listeners and marketing partners came together to raise over $23,000 to thank frontline workers.

The premise was simple: all the money raised from April Foods Day would go towards buying gift cards from local restaurants—gift cards that would then be used to recognize local heroes for their incredible service. All told, over 1100 gift cards were purchased and handed out to frontline workers at 44 essential businesses, including hospitals, day cares, grocery stores, nursing homes, fire departments, and more.

Our team was truly honored to deliver these gift cards—and truly honored to be part of such an inspiring community. With more than 320 GoFundMe donors and over $23,000 raised, the first ever April Foods Day was a huge success.
